Roof Repair in Bicester, Thame & Oxford

A leak in the bedroom, a slipped tile after a storm, a damp patch you've been watching get bigger. Roof problems rarely fix themselves. They get worse, faster than most homeowners expect.

We've been handling roof repairs across Oxfordshire for years. Same-day inspections for emergencies, free written quotes for everything else, and the diagnostic honesty to tell you when a repair isn't enough and when it's more than enough.

When You Need Roof Repair

Most roof problems show themselves long before they cause real damage. The trick is spotting them early enough that the fix is small. The ones we see most often:

Black outlined water droplet icon with a small curved line inside

Active leaks

A wet patch on the ceiling, water staining around a light fitting, damp on the wall under the roofline. These need attention this week, not next month. The longer water sits in your loft, the more it damages timber and insulation.

Slipped or cracked tiles

Visible from the ground or from a neighbour's upstairs window. One or two slipped tiles isn't an emergency, but every gap is somewhere rain can get in. Worth fixing on a dry day before it becomes a wet-day problem.

Storm damage

Loose tiles, blown ridge cap, displaced lead flashing, damage from fallen branches. We work on storm-damaged roofs across Bicester, Thame, and Oxford every winter.

Chimney issues

Cracked pointing, loose flashing, crumbling brickwork. Chimneys are where most leaks actually start, even when the rest of the roof looks fine.

Sagging or movement

Visible dip in the ridge line, daylight visible from inside the loft, doors and windows in the top of the house sticking. Could be timber rot, could be structural. Either way, get it looked at.

Animal damage

Squirrels, birds, or pigeons making homes under the eaves or in soffit gaps. Common in older Oxfordshire properties. Fixable, but worth handling before they nest properly.

If you've spotted something and you're not sure whether it's a real problem, send us a photo. We'll tell you honestly whether it needs attention or whether it can wait.

How We Handle Repairs

Three things separate a proper repair from a botched one: actually getting on the roof to diagnose the problem, fixing the cause not the symptom, and using the right materials for the job.

We get on the roof.

Plenty of roofers quote from the ground or from a photograph. We don't. The cause of a leak is often metres away from where the water shows up, and the only way to find it is to look. Ladders, harness, drones, proper access. Always.

We fix the cause.

Patching a tile when the underlay is shot doesn't fix the leak, it postpones it by a few months. We tell you what's actually causing the problem and what the proper fix looks like. Sometimes that's a single tile. Sometimes it's a section of underlay. Sometimes it's an honest conversation about needing a re-roof.

02

We match the old roof.

Tile colour, slate type, ridge profile, the right grade of lead for flashing work. Mismatched repairs look terrible and often fail faster. We match new tiles, slates, and lead to what.s already there.

The written quote tells you exactly what we're going to do, what materials we're using, and what it will cost. If we find something we didn't expect once we're up there, we stop, tell you, and update the quote. We never start extra work without your sign-off.

What Roof Repair Costs in Oxfordshire

Honest answer: it depends. Most of our repair work falls into one of three rough bands.

Small repairs

£150 to £450

A few slipped tiles, a single leak source, minor chimney pointing, replacing a damaged section of flashing. Typically one visit, a few hours' work, done same day or next day.

Medium repairs

£450 to £1,500

Multiple repair points, larger sections of damaged underlay, chimney flashing replacement, more involved storm damage work. Usually one day on site.

Larger repair jobs

£1,500 to £4,000+

Significant areas of damage, multiple chimneys, leadwork across valleys, partial re-tiling of a roof section. Two to four days on site depending on complexity.

We don't charge a call-out fee for an inspection for homeowners who require a repair or replacement. The visit and the written quote are free whether you use us or not. If your insurance covers the work, we provide an itemised quote and report suitable for the insurer.

Common Questions

  • How quickly can you come out for a leak?

Same day during working hours for emergencies. After hours, we aim to be with you first thing the next morning. Use 07532 712048 for emergencies. There's no call-out fee.

  • Will my insurance cover it?

Storm damage and accidental damage are often covered, normal wear and tear usually isn't. We provide a written report and itemised quote suitable for an insurance claim if relevant.

  • Can you do temporary repairs first?

Yes. If you've got water coming in and need it stopped before we can do the full repair, we can put a temporary cover in place same day to keep the rain out. We'll book the full repair for a dry day when proper work is possible.

  • How do I know it's actually a repair and not a re-roof?

We tell you. About a third of our repair enquiries turn out to need more than they expected, and a similar number turn out to need less. Either way, you get an honest answer, in writing, before any work starts.

  • Is a small leak really that urgent?

A small leak can sit there for months without obviously getting worse, then suddenly cause significant damage in a single bad storm. Water rots timber slowly, then everything happens at once. The cost difference between fixing a small leak now and fixing the consequences later is usually four-figure.
